Tragedy strikes when the investigator Kureo Mado guns down Ryoko, Hinami’s mother, without mercy. The news shatters the fragile peace at Anteiku. Hinami is left orphaned, and Touka’s grief curdles into something dangerous. What happens to Ryoko in this chapter is absolutely heartbreaking.
Kaneki hatches a bold plan to strike at Aogiri’s leadership directly. His followers are nervous but willing. If they can cut off the head, the body will fall, or so the theory goes. Kaneki’s plan to strike at Aogiri’s leadership is audacious to say the least.
The duel reaches its devastating conclusion. Amon falls, broken but alive, and Kaneki spares him. Mercy from a monster confuses everyone watching. Kaneki walks away, leaving the investigator to question everything he believed. Kaneki sparing Amon says everything about who he still is inside.
Amid the destruction, old friends find each other in the chaos. Nishiki, Touka, and the Anteiku crew fight side by side one more time. Every second of resistance is another second for the young ones to get away. Old friends fighting side by side gives this battle its emotional core.
A daring raid on a CCG convoy gives Kaneki’s group the supplies they need. It also sends a message. The Doves are no longer the only ones hunting, and the wards belong to no one. The convoy raid is a much needed win for Kaneki’s crew.
The final pieces fall into place. Friends old and new gather to celebrate how far they have come. There is food, laughter, and the kind of peace that once seemed impossible. Celebrating how far they have come is a joyous, well earned moment.
The CCG fortifies Cochlea, sensing something is coming. Investigators who survived Anteiku steel themselves. Nobody wants a repeat of that night, but war rarely asks permission. The CCG fortifying Cochlea sets the stage for an explosive confrontation.
