Amon resurfaces, but he is no longer the man he was. His experiences have changed him in ways the CCG cannot see. He walks a line between two worlds now, belonging fully to neither. Amon’s transformation is one of the most interesting threads in the story.
The Kaneki who emerges from that darkness is someone new entirely. His hair has turned white, his mind is clear, and his hesitation is gone. When Jason returns for another round, he finds a very different prisoner waiting for him. The shift in Kaneki is chilling, and Ishida draws it perfectly.
The CCG, meanwhile, is not idle. New investigators are promoted, new weapons forged. The loss of so many veterans has made them desperate, and desperate doves are the most dangerous kind. The CCG’s desperation makes them unpredictable and dangerous.
Eto watches Kaneki’s rise with amusement. The One Eyed Owl sees something familiar in him. She begins pulling strings from the shadows, steering events toward a confrontation only she fully understands. Eto pulling strings from the shadows makes her even more intriguing.
The final pieces fall into place. Friends old and new gather to celebrate how far they have come. There is food, laughter, and the kind of peace that once seemed impossible. Celebrating how far they have come is a joyous, well earned moment.
